CryptoForge’s aim is to protect your privacy. It does this by allowing you to encrypt sensitive information, by letting you securely delete files you don’t want to be brought back with data recovery tools, and last but not least, by providing access to a built-in, secure text editor.

Getting the CryptoForge installation file off the web and onto your computer won’t take long seeing that it’s little over 5MB in size. Run this file and a setup wizard will show up and guide you through the installation process. You can install CryptoForge on any 32 or 64-bit Windows edition from XP SP2 up to Windows 8.

While CryptoForge is running, you will notice an icon in the system tray. Left click that icon and you will be presented with the CryptoForge Options menu that, among other things, allows you to choose one of several encryption algorithms. Right click the CryptoForge system tray icon and you will be presented with a context menu that allows you to access the built-in, secure text editor, access the AutoUpdate function, and more.

CryptoForge intergrates with the Windows shell, meaning that the functionality the application has to offer is always a right click away. The options to encrypt and shred show up in the context menu when you right click a file. And thanks to this feature, you can easily and quickly encrypt a file, thus preventing others from accessing it, and you can securely delete a file, thus preventing others from using data recovery tools to bring it back.

For 30 days you can use CryptoForge for free.

Make sure your data is safe and protected by using CryptoForge to encrypt it. When you no longer need that data, use CryptoForge to securely delete it.

Pros

CryptoForge works with many 32 and 64-bit Windows editions. Easily encrypt and shred files from the right click context menu. CryptoForge comes with a built-in, secure text editor. The decrypt function does not expire even though the trial period does.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 30 days.
